Weeding Across the Disciplines: An Interdisciplinary Conversation on the Work of Selection and Removal

Four subject librarians and one stacks management supervisor who have collaborated on recent (and current) weeding projects discuss the impact of recent library industry trends and institutional tectonics on collection management work. Projects to be discussed will highlight weeding of serials, monographs, and oversize items in the natural sciences, social sciences, and the arts & humanities. Topics will include project management, collaborative planning, and discipline-specific weeding issues.

The Research Activity Identifier (RAiD) describes research projects and creates a record of related funding, publications, and contributors. LSU Libraries participated in the US RAiD Pilot, exploring implementation in the U.S. Presenters will describe the new persistent identifier and discuss challenges and opportunities that arose from the pilot. Topics will include project criteria, faculty outreach, taxonomies, integration into the institutional repository, and opportunities for libraries.
